Three-column Heavy Duty Pallet Racking

As a professional manufacturer of heavy duty beam racks, we not only provide customers with standard rack specifications and sizes, but also some non standard, longer racks with heavier load capacities. Today, we’ll talk about three column heavy duty beam racks.

Three-column pallet racking

Firstly, both three column racks and regular heavy duty racks are types of pallet racks. We typically consider three column racks for customers with wider or longer racks, or heavier load bearing capacity. In regular heavy duty racks, each upright consists of two columns, while in three column racks, each upright consists of three columns. The horizontal and diagonal braces also differ. Regular heavy duty racks usually consist of two horizontal braces plus diagonal braces, while three column racks do not consist of two sets of horizontal and diagonal braces, but rather one set of horizontal and diagonal braces plus some front support. The number of front support braces is usually determined by the height and load capacity.

Besides the differences in the uprights, there are also differences in the beams. Ordinary heavy duty racking typically consists of two beams per layer, while three column pallet racks consists of three beams per layer.

Recently, a client needed a 4500mm long pallet racking with a load capacity of 3 tons per layer. We selecteted three-upright pallet racking for them. The uprights are 90*70*2.0mm, and the beams are 160*50mm box beams, equipped with four-post claws. The racking unit is not tall, only 3 meters, but it is particularly long. The three beams will provide better load capacity and make the unit more stable.

Three column racks are not only used for heavy duty racks, but also for medium duty racks, especially in back to back situations. Reducing one column does not affect the load-bearing capacity of each shelf, and can save costs to a certain extent.
