Heavy duty cable rack – rotating while storing

In addition to standard heavy duty pallet rack, we can also provide special cable racks. There are generally three types of cable racks. One is the upright cable rack, where the uprights are the same as those in a standard heavy duty pallet racking. This type of cable rack typically only supports storage requirement. Another type is the A frame type, which is also quite common and we have provided this type of rack to our customers. This type of rack not only fulfills the storage function, but also allows for rotation while storing cables, simply by adding rotatable bearings. The last type is the heavy duty cable rack, designed as a cantilever. This type is typically used for storing heavy cables.

Last month, one of our clients ordered heavy duty rotating cable racks from us. They are 4 meters high, with each set approximately 3.8 meters long, consisting of one main rack and two add on racks. Each rack requires double-sided layering, with each layer capable of bearing approximately 3 tons. Before mass production, we conducted a sample load-bearing test. After assembling the rack, installing bearings, and placing approximately 3 tons of raw material steel on it, it demonstrated excellent load-bearing capacity and rotation. This type of rack is particularly suitable for clients who wish to store and operate simultaneously, offering great convenience.

Let’s briefly discuss the structure of heavy duty cable drums. The uprights are typically made of C-shaped steel, and a set usually consists of four uprights with connecting rods in the middle for added stability. The base is usually made of H-shaped steel. Crossbeams connect the uprights, and bearings are installed at the front, with round tubes placed inside. The overall structure also includes back bracing. This is a general overview of the cable drum rackĀ  structure; you can refer to the image above for a better understanding. The overall structure is relatively simple, primarily designed for heavy loads, hence the use of larger materials and high-quality bearings for smooth rotation
