Last week, we completed the production of galvanized shelves for our heavy duty pallet racking and loaded them into containers. The racking is 2400mm long and 3600mm high, with a shelf load of approximately 1.5 tons. We selected 1.2mm thick galvanized shelves for our customer. This is a product that our customer has repeatedly repurchased, demonstrating its high quality and customer satisfaction. Heavy duty pallet racking can be used with pallets, wire mesh decking, and steel shelves. Steel shelves can be further divided into powder coated and galvanized steel shelves. Today, we will mainly discuss galvanized steel shelves.
Heavy duty pallet racking typically ranges in length from 2 to 3 meters. The specific dimensions depend on the warehouse, pallet size, and goods dimensions, and can be customized, but this range is the most commonly used. Therefore, powder-coated shelves usually consist of 2 or 3 panels per shelf. The thickness of the shelf and its load-bearing capacity are related to the length and width of the shelving. Reinforcing ribs are usually welded to the bottom. Galvanized shelves differ not only in surface treatment but also in size.
The length of galvanized shelves is usually about the same as the width of the shelving, but slightly longer because the shelves need to put on the beams. The width is relatively narrow, determined by the racking length and load capacity, typically between 200-300mm. Because it’s narrower, no reinforcing ribs need to be welded to the bottom; the bent edges act as reinforcement. Hanging the shelves directly on two beams also results in better load capacity. For heavy duty racking, especially when the load capacity reaches 1 ton or more, many customers choose galvanized shelves due to their low cost and good load capacity. With galvanized shelves, customers can place goods directly on the shelves, no need the steel pallets or plastic pallets.
