4 Levels Beam 5 Levels Products Pallet Rack

Last week, we completed the installation of heavy duty pallet racking for our client, consisting of 4 beams and 5 levels products. The beams are 2.3 meters long and 6 meters high. Today, we’ll briefly discuss the relationship between the number of beam levels and the number of products levels.

Typically, the number of beams should be one less than the number of goods layers. For example, two beams can support three layers of goods, one beam can support two layers, three beams can support four layers, and so on. The number of goods layers will be one more than the number of beams because most people choose to place the first layer of pallets directly on the ground. This has two advantages: firstly, fewer beams directly reduce costs; secondly, less load is borne by the beams, sometimes allowing for the use of smaller materials, further saving costs. We also recommend this arrangement to our clients and usually make this solution for them.

Of course, some customers choose to place the first layer on a beam instead of the ground. In this case, the number of beam layers will be the same as the number of product layers. To avoid wasting space, the first beam layer is usually quite low. When the ground is damp, placing the product on the first layer provides excellent protection. This can be entirely chosen based on the customer’s needs.

Last week, the heavy duty pallet racking project that we completed, the client chose to place the first layer of goods on the ground. Because the ground was relatively flat, so as shown in the picture, the first layer of beams was hung quite high. The entire racking system is a long, back-to-back structure, and we also equipped the client with appropriate upright protectors and row spacers. The use of row spacers makes the overall racking system more stable.
